Do you know what today is? It's three days past the Winter Soltice, that's what! The days are getting longer again, thank the universe. Hubby and I celebrated by going for a delightful walk in the woods. We walked along a sparkling, clear creek, along which we saw lots and lots of racoon foot/hand prints. No actual critters, just their tracks. There was plenty of sunshine and blue sky. So pretty.

Now I must get to work and comb through my short story file and choose something to send off to some magazine. That may not sound like a big deal to normal people like you, but it is a task I've been putting off for YEARS! I don't know if it's laziness or fear of rejection, or what, but I just don't do it. But on Sunday, I was visiting a friend who asked me how my writing was going. I said "Nowhere," and he admonished me. Then he gave me a pep talk (rah, rah!) and said he was giving me four days to do the deed. He will call me on Thursday to see if I follow through. Hey! No problem! I still have two more days...

Get to it dear, you are great writer, and should not deny the world your insights!

Write a little every day.

I second what biz wrote. Seriously. Write a little each day. And then get those stories out to publishers.

I know, easier said than done, but do it! Please.

biz: Thank you, dear. You have certainly given my confidence a much needed boost. I'm gonna get right on it!

dcup: OK,I have my cup of yerba mate tea and my cinnamon-scented candle right here on my desk and my muse is sitting on my shoulder, wielding a tiny whip. Ow! Ow!

Fear of rejection? Please. I think it was Charles Bukowski, may have been someone else, who wall-papered their bathroom with all the rejection slips they received. When you look at all the crap on the shelves, I think lots of rejections could be considered a badge of honor. Good luck, Madam!

Gee, my bathroom could really use some wallpaper. Thanks for the idea, Captain!

I agree with Capt Smack! If you can look at each one with 'your loss' or 'you'll regret this one day' it'll keep you inspired to keep fine-tuning your wonderful skills.

I'd like to write too, and ironically one of my most regular readers is an editor, who graciously offered to read my stuff, help me before sending.

Find someone like that, and you'll be already one step ahead of those choosy fuckers.

We'll be here watching with much support ! xx
