That Goddamned Lipstick!

Okay, it was a cute joke the first time Palin uttered the now tired joke, "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick!" But now, the horrifying follow-up to that joke may bring down the Obama campaign, if enough people get caught up in the firestorm that the right-wing talk show idiots are trying to stoke.
Do you know what I'm referring to? Recently, Obama was speaking to a gathering of his fans, and said that McCain, in spite of claiming to be a reformer, was actually not much different from Bush. Then he dropped this little bomb: "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." Now I am pretty darned sure that he was just making his own little joke, by trotting out the word "lipstick" in the context of an old adage. He was referring to McCain and his policies.
But now the right-wingnut talk show hosts have started a relentless tirade, claiming that Obama was CALLING SARAH PALIN A PIG! That preposterous claim is gathering steam like the proverbial runaway freight train. How can they and the people who listen to them possibly believe something so improbable? Actually, I don't think Limbaugh-Hannity-Savage really believe it, but they know their listeners will. Have they no shame? It just goes to show that you can put lipstick on a wingnut, but he's still a wingnut. Make that a "fucking idiot wingnut asshole." Grrrrrr!

"Bring down the Obama campaign." That's what they want you to think so you get disheartened and don't vote. It's all, pardon my French, BULLSHIT. The only people who are outraged are Bush McCain staffers. Everyone and their brother and sister in their right mind knows exactly what he meant. Instead of worrying so much, how about you talk to other women about Obama and tell them that he's the man for them and not McCain.

It's an dicey thing - the Repugs have loud, totally obnoxious voices and the general media is not really taking on their lies. They sort of report it as news - as if a serious policy statement is no different than the spin and misdirections garbage.

It all gets dumped via the TV, radio and computer in every house in the US. And it will bring votes to Old John and Sarah Wingnut simply because there's a lot of people who believe the tabloid view of the world.

I did a search to compare the educational background of the four candidates - it's on my blog - and despite all the lip service to education, we get the opposite - Obama is blah blah blah ... while perky arch conservative Sarah is a hockey mom (as if) and is ready to take on the President's duties once Old JOhn croaks.

We have a dismal media and a vicious Repug Machine pumping stuff to a populace who buys into the lies - despite the screwing they've taken ofver the past almost 8 years.

Yeah, it is a scary time.

Thanks for stopping by and all your comments were appreciated.

I'm hoping Crazy Sarah's remarks about Russia and Georgia give Obama a 25% boost in the polls.

And the wood has to dry for a season or two before new boxes appear.
